Depending on what you mean by "adding more fuel" The more fuel that is in your tank the heavier the car becomes. Weight has a direct effect on mileage and power. The heavier a vehicle is, the less efficient it becomes. So not only will it not make it faster, it will make it slower and less powerful. Because you are reducing the horsepower to weight ratio, the car will use MORE fuel to move itself. Especially when you are climbing hills or under acceleration (speeding up)
SIMPLY PUT: When you add fuel you are adding weight. The added weight slows the car down.
