Bio-diesel is a bio-fuel (bio means life) that is made from living things, in this case plants. Bio-diesel then is a renewable energy fuel, with no carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that increase global warming. Yes, it emits CO2 when it is burnt, but this CO2 was removed from the atmosphere recently when the vegetation was growing, so this CO2 is part of the carbon cycle. Fossil fuel CO2 has been hidden underground for 300 million years, so releasing it now definitely adds to global warming.

Biodiesel, derived from renewable sources such as vegetable oils or animal fats, emits carbon dioxide when burned. However, the carbon dioxide emitted during its combustion is roughly equal to the amount absorbed by the plants used to produce it. This creates a carbon-neutral cycle, preventing a net increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases, unlike fossil fuels which release additional carbon that has been sequestered for millions of years. Therefore, biodiesel does not contribute to global warming.

Does biodiesel slow down global warming?

Yes, the use of biodiesel slows down global warming. Biodiesel fuel is carbon neutral, that is, it releases no more carbon dioxide into the air than it takes out. Using biodiesel means that a similar amount of fossil fuel diesel is not used, so that amount of carbon dioxide is not added to the enhanced greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.

What is the importance of using bio-diesel?

Biodiesel is important as using it slows global warming. Biodiesel, made from vegetation and algae, is used for powering vehicles and machinery instead of using diesel, which is a fossil fuel causing global warming.

How does the use of biodiesel benefit us?

It reduces global warming by reducing the emission of gases like carbon dioxide. It is also biodegradable, nontoxic and efficient when biodiesel is used.

How do plants increase global warming?

Plants don't increase global warming. In fact, they do the opposite.Plants, trees and all vegetation reduce the effect of global warming by removing from the atmosphere these gases like carbon dioxide and storing the carbon in their trunks and branches. They help to reduce global warming.
