How old is your air filter? You might need to change it. It might also be time to replace the spark plugs and/or plugwires and/or points and/or the rotor and/or the distributor cap. That is the easy tune-up stuff if you have a 4.0 6 cylinder engine. The hard stuff might entail a new starter or the coil but you can still change it yourself. My 1997 Grand Cherokee just turned over 239,000 miles and still starts with one turn of the key. MC
Check the module and the coil ..that might help
if it starts after a couple of times and only does this when it is cold or sitting for along time the most likely cause is the fuel pump. the fuel pump should hold presure or at least keep all the fuel from draining back to the fuel tank.
Could also be the crankshaft position sensor. This can be checked by reading codes from the engine controller
Try to jump start, If it just clicks probly a bad starter! Try to hit it with a small hammer while some one trys to start..... If it starts, change starter...If it only cranks it could be crank sensor, best way to tell ,the fuel gage normally doesnt work either... disconnect the sensor and if the fuel gage starts to move off empty its the sensor......sensor is located on top of the bellhousing in the back of the head... there is also a big fuze box located in the engine compartment on the pass side.. Take a test light and make sure that you don't have a bad fuze... You also can look at them and if the wire is broken (replace )and try!!! If the car cranks but wont start try removing thr air intake tube and spray some starting fluid and try to start.... If it starts or sputters it may be a fuel problem...... Hope this helps
PLEASE !!! There is no way to answer you with just this question. I mean, really, at this point I would have to ask if you have gas in your tank or even if you have a battery in the thing.
Get some more info, maybe even including the engine type and what you've done to try to fix this to date and we may have something to work with.
Just saying that it won't start invites answers such as ahhhhh.......did you put the key in the ignition. Not trying to be ignorant with you but......
Been there done that. I suggest you replace your starter. A starter is inexpensive. Buy one from an auto parts store and take it to your mechanic for installation. save money.
If 4.0 it might be the crank position sensor located at the rear of the engine also and first check all the fuses with a test light
check the battery
