Check the battery cables by twisting them. If they move you will need to tighten them. Follow the positive cable to the power distribution box and be sure it is tight and no evidence of arcing. If it does not crank in park, while holding the key to start, move the selector towards neutral. If it cranks then the neutral safety switch is defective. I hope one of these works for you.
alternator needs to be replaced. battery also might be a problem due to the alternator not charging it
my 05' cavalier has a bad alternator problem its charging the battery a little bit then stops and the little power my battery has is drained by the end of the night. I replaced the alternator twice and the battery but still no difference.
The computer only resets when the battery is removed. The alternator just charges the battery, so if the battery is left connected when the alternator is replaced, the computer should not reset.
If it is running on the battery only then that means the alternator is not charging the battery.
did you check the alternator??
Well it maybe that the battery is to small for the truck or the alternator is bad
Inside the alternator
Voltage regulator or loose wire.
Check the battery cables or starter.
Alternator is not charging. Have it tested and/or replaced.
An alternator keeps the battery charged in a vehicle. In a 2006 Chevrolet Impala when the alternator fails the battery will keep dying and no power will be available when attempting to start the car.
You can have the alternator tested free of charge at just about any major auto parts store. By the way, a bad alternator will not "discharge" a battery - the alternator's function is to provide the charge to the battery. If the alternator is faulty, then it is not providing the charge necessary to keep other components from discharging the battery. I had the alternator tested and it was charging. If the alternator has a bad diode, it will discharge the battery. I replaced the alternator and everything is fine.
