I am have the same problem with my 04 to include the mirror remote it work on the pass side but not the drivers have you found an answer yet? Check out the wiring between the door and the body. Constant flexing weakens the wires and they break inside the covering but the covering remains intact. Hold each wire inside and outside of the door pull firmly and try to stretch them. Those that 'thin out' are broken. Very common on Jaguar too !

remove bolt on the back of passenger seat, pull that back and out. Then driver seat just pulls back and out as well.
the only thing i know is that you have to take the passenger rear tire off and loosen the lugs on the the front driver.
