because Norway is located in the northern hemisphere and due to unique slanted position of earth in reference point to the sun, the earth rotated at an angle(which made the equatorial line laying slightly above or below horizontal line if drawn from the sun). Thus as the earth revolves and rotate, during summer NOrway and other northern country experience longer daylight. Vice versa during winter NOrway spent most of the time facing the opposite end of the sun, thus no sun during winter.
