Who knows why Uncle Owen doesn't remember C3P0, maybe from the plating. Uncle Owen was also in Episode 2, he was just younger. =I'm actually pretty sure George Lucas answered this question once, but I don't remember where. From what I remember he didn't want Luke to get pulled into everything that happened with Anakin, because he DID find out about the slaughtering. 3PO doesn't remember Owen because of his memory being wiped obviously. But Owen doesn't remember 3PO probably because hes a protocol droid; there are thousands of them all over the galaxy, and there's bound to be at least one more with gold plating. Owen probably assumes that since 3PO doesn't remember him that it's another droid entirely.
