Why doesn't Uncle Owen in Star Wars Episode IV remember C-3PO when his father owned him in Star Wars Episode II?
Would you recognize the rotory-dial telephone your father used when he was a kid? he could have been trying to hide it from his nephew, Luke, and just try to forget C3PO Also, C3PO had new gold plating that he did not have back in episode II ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is probably a good theory, but I've heard the common knowledge that C3PO got his memory erased by Obi-Wan Kenobi to keep knowledge of Luke and Leia away from Darth Vader. Who knows why Uncle Owen doesn't remember C3P0, maybe from the plating. Uncle Owen was also in Episode 2, he was just younger.
=I'm actually pretty sure George Lucas answered this question once, but I don't remember where. From what I remember he didn't want Luke to get pulled into everything that happened with Anakin, because he DID find out about the slaughtering.
3PO doesn't remember Owen because of his memory being wiped obviously. But Owen doesn't remember 3PO probably because hes a protocol droid; there are thousands of them all over the galaxy, and there's bound to be at least one more with gold plating. Owen probably assumes that since 3PO doesn't remember him that it's another droid entirely.
