Difference between fog lights and regular lights?

Fog lights are intended to be mounted below the headlights and project a beam pattern which is very wide but not very tall or far. This pattern lights up a pathway close to the ground but does not light the airborne particles in the line of sight - this increases the visibilty in bad weather. KC Fog Lights are very useful in Dust, Fog, Rain and Snow. They also work well as Cornering lights in clear conditions.Long Range lights are able to penetrate deep into the night. KC Long Range Lights produce a tighter, more focused beam of light (pencil beam) to see way out ahead toward the horizon. These lights create the brightest beam pattern and most candlepower available. Long Range lights are typically used for Off Highway, Commercial, Agricultural and Racing applications.

How do running lights on a car work?

Different countries have different rules for what lights need to be showing when the vehicle is in motion. Generally, it refers to the lights you must display when driving a vehicle on a public road. These rules vary.In Sweden, for instance, you must always display tail lights and dipped or low beam headlights whilst moving. In cars manufactured in such countries the required 'running lights' illuminate when the engine is started. Other lights are additional for mist and fog.Elsewhere, the UK for instance, dipped or low beam headlights and tail lights must be displayed when visibility is restricted or between certain hours. There is no exact definition of what 'restricted visibility' means. At least one high intensity rear light must be additionally displayed when visibility is severely restricted, fog for instance.Side lights or parking lights are not called running lights, nor have they been since the very early days of motoring.A basic rule is if in doubt put your dipped or low beam headlights on.

How do you align the 2000 Avalon headlights?

Hi, if you look in the owners manuel under the headlights area it will show you the very easy way to adjust your headlights. Briefly, you have to remove the black shroud in the front of and atop the radiator are first. Then if you look down at the top of the headlights you will notice adjusting screws that require Philips screw driver to turn. This will adjust the lights up and down. Do at dusk and mark a point in the light being reflected on a wall and you can determine which way you are adjusting the beam. This should be done on a fairly level surface.

What would cause both low beam headlights on a 1997 Geo Metro not to work?

Could be that your low beam bulbs are out in your lights. Or a bad ground. These cars are very sensitive to bad grounds, and it happens all the time. First place to check is buy new headlights. Second is too check ground on fender under hood. Yes it is possible for the ground to be bad and you only get hi beams not low. Dont ask me why. Just is. Seen it a few times at the shop. Have you tried your horn lately?

How do you adjust headlights on a 1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24?

Generally, pull about 10ft from a wall or garage door on level ground and turn your lights on. Adjust headlights by turning torx screws on headlight assembly so that each beam is pointing perfectly straight forward and about 2-3ft high off ground on wall/door. Probably closer to 2ft is better. Remember there should be 2 separate beams and measure height from middle of beam to the ground. This procedure is very general but will work for all cars.

How can you adjust your low beam head lights on a 2006 Volvo S40 T5?

I found that my lights were pointed very low on my T5. when i took apart the projector lens i saw there is a piece of metal blocking the beam from pointing higher. I just bent this beam away from the lens a bit to allow light to be projected upward more. they are very bright now. the question is... how legal?

When approaching an aircraft at night should headlights be turned off?

Yes! Pilots are very careful about their night vision, and you -will- upset them if you put your headlights in their eyes. This is not to say that you should turn all your lights off though. You should have your parking lights on, as well as turning on your four-way blinkers (hazard lights) whenever driving on the airport ramp.
