The contour warm air blower starts on a timer 45 seconds after the burner initially starts, not on temparture
A check engine light in any vehicle is a warning that there is an issue with the motor. In a specific vehicle, as in a Ford Contour, it is best to check the manual or with a mechanic to identify the issue.
For a 1998 Ford Contour ( in North America ) Either the 2.0 L four cylinder or the 2.5 L , V6 engine
No , it is NOT an interference engine ( according to Gates - they make timing belts etc. )
Bad blower motor? Blown blower motor fuse? Bad fan switch? Bad blower resistor pack?
Yep non interference. I know cause I am majic and I just know my stuff
Yes
Oil consumption, excessive engine noise, smoke coming from the tail pipe.
According to the 2000 Ford Contour Owner Guide ( 5W-30 ) With engine oil filter change : The 2.0 litre four cylinder engine takes ( 4.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 ) The 2.5 V6 ( 5.8 quarts )
I believe that this is the same engine used in my 2000 Ford Contour, which is a non-interference engine (luckily) as I'm having to replace the timing belt now after losing about 8 inches of teeth! Robert G.
Have you checked the fuse and relay? - They are in the engine compartment above the passenger strut.
A little movement is normal but more than that may indicate broken motor mounts.
I am pretty sure there are three engine/transmission mounts. One on the passenger side of the enginer compartment, one in the front of the engine/transmission and the other behind the engine/transmission. The ones in the front and back of the engine are a pain in the @ss to fix.
