George Lucas. George Lucas did not create, write or come up with the Star Wars series by himself. He was merely a director to the movie. Oliver Simon wrote the original series books. George Lucas then bought the rights to the storyline and characters, re-wrote the series, and made them into a movie.

Well, George Lucas wrote the ideas for all of the films, but he has not written any novels on the film or in the extended universe. All of those novels are written by different people. The novels are all written by established authors, commissioned by the publisher, and under license by Lucasfilms.
