We do, or at least I do. Yes they can be brash and slightly obnoxious at times, but I wouldn't say the British don't like Americans.
If there is one reason, it's probably their reluctance to join WW II until the later stages. When they did get involved, they were based in the UK prompting the phrase "over sexed and over here" and the "nylon" issue.
