you mustn't of done alot of exercise in a long time. dont go right for it. start building up by doing small walks and then make them longer. then go to the gym. or maybe your just too obsessed with what other people will think of your weight when you go there, nobody cares about what you will be doing, only about what they are doing and how much they will loose, or it could just be that you want to relax tonght, dont worry, i was big once.
If you can, take your clothes and head to a bathroom stall and change there. Dont forget to lock the door! :Dhaha been there done that. However, I will say that nobody is going to watch you get dressed. It may feel awkward, but as long as you dont make a big deal out of it, you'll be okay.
When you start going to the gym you lose fat but gain muscle and as muscle is heavier that fat you may feel larger, but reach for the measuring tape, you may not lose weight but you will lose inches.
