They might have equivalent ceremonies. for example Hannukah mimics the Yule holidays to some degree- gifts, for example, and Purim has been expanded into a sort of Hebraic Halloween. I saw a man in a costume shop in the period and he wanted to buy a Russian hat- he admired mine, he wanted to go as a KGB officer to a Purim party. So surely they also have wedding showers and maybe Baby showers- possiby abbreviated.

∙ 8y agoWe have no need or desire to mimic the wider world. Just as Purim, Hanukkah and other Jewish celebrations existed long before Christianity, so did the practice of communal help. We have interest-free loan funds, non-profit organizations that give furniture to young married couples, and every other conceivable form of mutual help. This has been going on since long before the existence of modern society with its commercialized occasions.
