The LITTLE red ones do. I think the LITTLE black ones do to. But I am not sure about the BIG ants like the fire ant. I think they don't die.

No, they don't coz they don't lose any part of their bodies upon biting, als they bite their own food to tear it to make it hlodable.

this is not the case in bees, which loose part of their intestine with the spine
