Because of society mostly, myself I find thongs very uncomfortable and scarring to see, women, it can be personal choice, if a chic wants to wants to wear trunks i don't need why not.

Wait a minute! I have a son and daughter, ages 15 and 17. They both wear thongs. My boy switched to women's because men's don't come in only in cotton and he prefers the lighter fabrics with more stretch. So I guess they are both wearing thongs . The only difference is that my girl's thongs are lacy and feminine and my boy wears white and black micro fiber. My husband started wearing the same when he saw how comfortable and good they looked on our son.
