Some probably had dogs. Many of the better-off would have kept horses, but for transport, not as pets.
Depends on what the horses are used for. If breeding, horses can be sold for sport, pets, and work but most horses are kept as pets, pleasure horses, and hobby horses.
Yes, medieval people did have pets, although pet ownership was more common among the wealthier classes who could afford to care for animals. Dogs, cats, birds, horses, and even exotic animals like monkeys were kept as pets during medieval times. Pets were valued for companionship, protection, and practical purposes such as hunting.
Whether or not you show a horse is up to the individual owner. Many people keep horses solely as 'pets' or for pleasure, the breed has no bearing on this choice as a general rule.
they had dog,cats,pigs,cows,horses,also fish.
UGH! I hate it when they dont think about pets needs! But, the answer is, because people think pets are lower than humans, and dont think they need supplies to live, OR they just forget or dont care.
