Just about any type of horse can be trained to do barrel racing. Some horses are just naturally better at it then other horses. Usually you want a horse that is fast and can turn fast. Alot of people use QH and paints. I have Ridden a mustang and a paint in barrel racing and they both did very well.

Note: Western ewuipment is built differently from English Also, it is posssible to ride without a saddle (& girth) or bridle.

NO! Horses are still extremely loved by milions and millions of people all over the world! I am one of them :) and just because we dont use them for things that we used to, like work or farming , doesn't mean the age of horses has passed !!!!

in a race to win money *edit* That is right, but only for racing horses (i.e. thoroughbreds, standardbreds, etc.) Most people use their horses for pleasure riding, like trail riding, jumping, gymkhana, showing, and all those other fun things. Some use them to pull carriages, and there are a few people who even still use them for farming.
