You do not get crowns. Crowns and subscibtions are 2 different ways to pay to go to new areas in Wizard 101. Crowns you can use to buy items in the crown store and some shops. Subscribtions have different amounts you pay over different amounts of time. Subscribtions only let you go to all Pay-to-play areas. I would recomend using crowns. Hope this helps! I am sorry to say that there is only one way to get into Firecat Alley free. It is not likely to happen, but if you are given a gift card for Wizard 101, you can redeem crowns and buy the area with the crowns. If you were talking about not spending crowns, there sadly is no possible way to get in free. Sorry. :(
