Usually anywhere from the middle of August until the middle of September, once the berries are dark purple or almost black, showing no red. I have read, once they reach that point, you should let them 'over-ripen' for another week to get the best flavor. Some parts of the trees, depending on height and exposure to elements will ripen quicker, so you can continue to pick as they continue to ripen. In 2009, I picked berries from late August to late September to make jelly with and did not notice any difference in the flavor of the jelly.
