Why don't the hormones in the foods eaten have an effect on human bodies?

They do!!! They are broken down in the intestines and absorbed into the blood. We don't know the true effect of them because they have only been in the food chain for a relatively short time. Note 'The Pill' releases estrogen into water when passed as urine- this is then recycled in the water supply and builds up in men- they then grow breasts! There is also anecdotal evidence to point towards infertility amongst men as a result of estrogen in water supplies. Hormones that are taken for the menopause or for growth (HGH taken for muscle wasting or body building) or steriods etc are all hormones. They impact humans in a BAD way. essentially nature doesn't like you playing around with the hormonal system and can shut down (ultimately making the problem worse). Example body builders who took steriods and their testosterone production shut down. They are now growing breasts as estrogen is dominant in their bodies. Look up dangers with ingesting hormones etc. Also consider reading Natural Hormonal Enhancement by Rob Fagin (truely awesome book) (and no, I'm not Rob Fagin).
