Sodium hydroxide is a strong base that can cause serious chemical burns. It is commly known as soda lye and its caustic nature makes it effective for use in drain cleaners
But perhaps you mean why it can't be used as a leavening agent. Both baking powder (which contains sodium bicarbonate) an yeast act by producing carbon dioxide gas. Sodium hydroxide cannot yield carbon dioxide in a chemical reaction and can in fact react with it.
Put drops of Sodium, Potassium, or Ammonium Hydroxide in it. The Cupric hydroxide will precipitate out in blue colour. Dont put excess hydroxide or there will be a formation of another intense blue complex compound
i dont know but it is a chemical that is on the periodic table
Sodium polyacrylate is prepared through a polymerization reaction involving the monomer acrylic acid. The monomer units are linked together to form a long chain polymer. Sodium polyacrylate is obtained by neutralizing the acrylic acid polymer with sodium hydroxide.
The word equation for the reaction involving carbon dioxide, water, and sodium acetate is: carbon dioxide + water + sodium acetate → sodium bicarbonate.
5 acids: hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), nitric acid (HNO3), acetic acid (CH3COOH), phosphoric acid (H3PO4). 5 bases: sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide (KOH), magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2), ammonia (NH3), calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2).
I dont even know man
When copper sulfate and sodium hydroxide are mixed, a blue precipitate of copper hydroxide is formed. This is because the hydroxide ions from sodium hydroxide react with the copper ions from copper sulfate to form the insoluble copper hydroxide. The net ionic equation for this reaction is Cu^2+ (aq) + 2OH^- (aq) → Cu(OH)2 (s).
did your grandma like baking cake?i dont know my grandma is in hati so if she was not there i think she would.shutup! just kidding bye
An alternative name (and the preferred modern nomenclature) is sodium hydrogen carbonate.Perhaps, though, you were looking for the common name, which is "baking soda" (not baking powder, that's sodium carbonate).
because you either have a cruddy recipe or can't cook. put more baking powder in.
Dont even ask me. no one knows. By:Jonas V. and Andrew L. :)

Yes in exssesive amount baking soda can be very harmful and can block up your colons leading to infection baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. a high intake of sodium can alter your bloods electrolytes & result in thirst, dizziness, mental confusion, muscle twitching, & seizures.
I find that whenever i bake with the fan on my cakes end up too done on the outside and not done enough inside. Dont know if its just me, but i always always always cook without the fan now, keep cakes in the bottom half of the oven and they always turn out lovely. I think if you dont have the option and have to use the fan just make sure you lower the temperature as the fan disperses the heat throughout the oven so it is consistently hot throuought.
just put the amount sweetner you like in your rock cakes if you like it sweet put a lot in if you dont like it sweet dont put as much in
yes but many people dont know it
