Encoder is being used to measurethe depth of pile in case of piling rig
A shaft encoder is also known as a rotary encoder. The shaft encoder converts an angular position of a shaft to a digital code.
get under you vehicle, around the very middle of your truck where the front drive shaft meets the rear drive shaft you will find your encoder motor, unplug it and you will always be in 2wd until you plug it back in. I learned this when by encoder motor seized on me and left my 4wd locked on inevitably causing horrible binding on turns.
An encoder motor is the part that engages the change between 4wd and 2wd.
In terms of motor drives an encoder will be attached or integral to the motor shaft. As an example it may typically have 1000 "segments" so 1000th of a revolution resolution, particularly in DC drive technology and braked motor applications, it is used for precise positioning usually via its own control equipment to a PLC.

The power output of a motor can be changed by the use of gears. Gears can be used to increase torque by reducing the speed of the output shaft by placing a large gear on the output shaft, coupled to a smaller gear. Conversely, by using a small gear on the output shaft, coupled to a larger gear, the speed can be increased with a reduction in torque.
An ac motor cannot generate electricity but its shaft can be coupled to that of certain devices like an alternator to in order to generate electricity.

Encoder motor (transfer case motor) needs to be replaced it is on the transfer case. the gears strip out inside it, or the shaft breaks. you can get them on e-bay. really easy to change.
hi this is peter i have a 2001 chevy blazer and how do i change the encoder motor on the transfer case? thanks
The serial Pulse Coder A is a rotary shaft encoder that uses Fanuc's proprietary serial scheme for communication. The CNC control sends a request pulse to the encoder, and the encoder responds with a 77-bit serial string of bits that contains shaft angle and rotation count information, and optionally a coarse absolute position that can be used for motor commutation. At the end of the data is a cyclical redundancy check character.
