double check your work. Maybe you didnt connect a wire correctly
Assuming this is the 4.3 engine, minor tune up consists of replacing the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter. A major tune up would consist of replacing the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter and pcv valve.
fuel filter needs replacing, injectors clogged, air filter dirty, spark plugs dirty. Try sea foam for a all around engine cleaning!
(1) Spark plugs need replacing. (2) Spark plug wires need replacing. (3) Distributor cap needs replacing. (4) Injectors are dirty and need cleaning or replacing (5) Fuel filter needs replacing. (6) Fuel pump needs to be checked.
There could be many reasons why the engine has no spark. A few reasons could be that the starter or starter solenoid is going bad, or the battery is drained.

Not to tight just snug
Replace spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, spark plug wires and PCV valve.

Sometimes when the tank is sucked dry, the fuel filter will become clogged with junk that settled on the tank bottom. Try replacing your fuel filter(s), then pour a little gas right into the carb, you need to be very careful not to spill it. A safer way would be to use starting fluid.
To turn the engine over to draw in some fuel and air into the cylinder and to make the spark plug spark to enable the engine to start running on its own.
Check to see if it is getting fuel and spark Check also the alternator.
If your boat engine is not starting, the problem is either in your spark plug or your gas line. Try changing the spark plug as well as draining the gas line and adding new fuel. Old fuel in the line can also corrode your carburetor. Try replacing the fuel filter as well.
