my girlfriends brothers car doesnt have that problem http://www.totalrecallinfo.com
security lock out had same problem with our 2004 grand am
actually alot of times its the hazard button ( your flasher) it happens alot with malibus / grand ams recall There is no recall I had this same problem with my Grand Am GT. The dealership had to change out the turn switch to fix the problem. I have a 02 Grand Am GT that had the same problem. The turn switch had to be replaced.Call your local dealer, there is no recall only a service bulletin, because as long as the car is not 10 years old,or has under 150,000 miles, the replacement is at no cost to you. This is what I did,the problem is fixed,it did not cost me a dime!
Could be a bad clockspring. check for a recall on the vehicle for this problem.
I had the same problem with my Grand Am and there is a recall on the ignition switch. I had to take the vehicle to an authorized GM dealer and they replaced it for me at no cost.
A bad starter can cause a Mercury Grand Marquis to not start. A bad alternator or a problem with the security system can be the cause for the car not starting.
Yes. When your GM security system activates, it disables fuel delivery to prevent startup.
I am a gm service manager and there have been no security system recalls on 02 grand ams i have a 2002 grand am as well and my security systems keeps acting up it will activate then i cant use car because it wont turn off then i have to get it towed in and they reset it they showed me how to but it still doesn't work for me No need for a tow you sit in your car for 10 minutes until the security light goes off then you can start your car again. Its poor parts that GM choose to use. I love my Grand Ams ( on the 5th one)
how i can reset the security sistem for a Pontiac 2001 grand am
Go here to find out. www.nhtsa.gov
i also have Pontiac grand am, mine is a 2001. The pass lock sensor sets off the security light which cuts off gas to the engine, which is a theft deturent. My problem was fixed when i got a new stereo and the one thing that was replaced was my chime module, so we think mine was a electrical problem. But get your pass lock sensor looked at because that is what controls the security light.
As per www.totalrecallinfo.com NO.
Most likely.
