How long have you had them? If you just got them and they came from different pens (not raised since "babies" in the same cage) they will fight. If you've had them for a while and they suddenly began fighting (mine did this) they are probably bored. Provide plenty of toys and chewy things for your lil girls! I noticed the bigger of my gerbils is trying to "mate" her sister. Sis is not taking to well to this action! I'd say as long as it's just playful fighting and not doing any actual harm, don't worry!
Yes. But at pet store they should have a group of gerbils. Only buy a gerbil if both are from the same tank at Petsmart or Petco, or your local pet store. If your gerbils start fighting, take them back. WARNING: If you see a tank at a pet store contained of fighting gerbils, don't buy a pair.
Answer (Improved!!!)betas fight, male and female alike. keep them separated or 1 or both will die. reason they are called Siamese Fighting Fish.
Males are typically calmer and less territorial than female gerbils. But with any gerbil, if it is not already a cagemate or sibling, it must be introduced properly through a split-cage method. You can find many examples of how to do this at: http://homepage.mac.com/kyleekay/tip-of-the-week/tip072003.html or http://www.twinsqueaks.com/split-tank.html Hope this helps.
maybe cause there both boys...
Yes. I have to boy gerbils and they both share there water.
First of all, male and female fighting fish (bettas) shouldn't be kept together. They are both territorial and agressive. They may be fighting over territory. It may also be that the male is ready to mate and the female isn't.
Put the eggs or female fish in a different tank it will be better for the both of them.
It depends on if they are the same age and if one or both of them have health problems.
If they're both male or female they are fighting. If one is male and one female then they are preparing to mate
If you have both a male and female in the tank and you see eggs, then it did lay them.
They may have some kind of parasite on them both, and they of course need more vitamins and nutrients, from the parasites taking them from them. You may want to go see a vet about that. are you sure they are both female? if you got them from a petshop you may have been given a male or a pregnant female. you should get your vet to check that they are both female.
We did, the Dad will probably help look after the babies, and the mum will get lonely if you take him out. If you dont want them to have any more litters you should take him out and let another female gerbil help the mum because Gerbils will mate straight after giving birth!
