ICE is the solid state of water.
Ice is the solid form of water (H2O) and water vapour. water is the liquid form of water vapour and ice.
Ice water has a lower temperature, but if you have plain water, and the ice water melts, it's likely that you'll have two glasses of water of the same temperature.
Pipes spaced 4in from centre are laid side by side along the length of the ice surface, usually 200 ft x 85 ft wide, and are encased in sand or cement. The pipes run to the refridgeration plant. Brine is cooled in the plant and is sent along these lines, cooling the floor. Water is sprayed very lighty until there is approx. 1/8 in of ice. The ice is painted white, another 1/8 or so of water is sprayed and frozen, then the lines, dots and logos are painted. Then water is sprayed and frozen until a depth of 1 in. is acquired.

Ice Machines are contained in a freezer or are stand alone. They have molds which are filled with water from a tube or pipe that is connected to the plumbing lines of the home or business. After this mold of water is frozen, the ice machine then releases the mold into a container.
They are painted onto the floor. Then the floor is covered with ice. Because the lines are under the ice, instead of part of the ice, resurfacing the ice won't remove the lines.
There will be ice on your AC lines if the pressure has dropped too far. Freon has a much lower freezing point than water and will freeze condensation quickly.
I am not a plumber, but am in the process of installing a water line myself...and all of the research I have done says the water line should be hooked up to the cold water.
Water ice is liquid ice. It is now exactly water but is is not exactly ice either.

There are a few reasons why your refrigerator may be leaking:Blocked evaporator drain (for draining away defrosted ice)Leaking water filter headLeaking water tankDamaged or cracked water lines

The mass of ice forming on the power cables becomes too great for the lines to support and so they snap.
Painted on the floor and the ice is put on after.
