Why if the dinosaurs were extinct before man do ancient ruins have symbols of dinosaurs on them?

Ancient ruins do not have symbols of dinosaurs on them. Some have symbols of mythical creatures called dragons on them. It is possible that the concept of dragons developed as an attempt to explain the source of dinosaur bones known to the ancients.
