You don't.
According to the United States Flag Code:
"The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise."
"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."
However, simply touching the ground does not make a flag unfitting--it simply means that it should be moved so that it does not touch the ground.
because its not respectful to the flag
Actually, (assuming we're talking U.S. flag) you don't have to burn the flag if it touches the ground. That is an urban legend. Try a Google search for "U.S. flag etiquette" and one of the links is the offical U.S. government site with information. The only time burning is mentioned is when the flag becomes too worn to use or repair.
When you drop the flag you are dropping the symbol of the united states and that is dirtying the flag which means you are ruining the national symbol.
It must be burn
Take it to your local VFW Post, and they will dispose of it properly for you.
Well if the American Flag touches the ground you are supposed to burn it. And if a flag is old and tattered then it should be burned
Only one reason why the military would burn a flat or our own is if it touches on he ground
it must be burned
You burn it.
A flag is a symbol of national pride in many countries. A flag should never touch the ground because it is a symbol for defeat and filth.
If the flag is no longer touching the ground, nothing. For ease of typing, here is an answer I posted in another question: "Actually, (assuming we're talking U.S. flag) you don't have to burn the flag if it touches the ground. That is an urban legend. It is a common misconception that a US flag should be immediately burned if it touches the ground, but under US code regarding the flag, this isn't the case.If a US flag touches the ground it should be adjusted so that it no longer touches the ground. If it gets dirty it can be washed or dry cleaned. If it becomes stained, soiled, or tattered and cannot be cleaned or repaired, so that it becomes unfit for display then it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning it.it can touch the ground if a carpet of gold horse hair is on the ground. that is super rare so normally it cannot touch the ground. in Egypt there is a really big carpet of gold horse hair so a flag can touch the ground there.
If the Flag touches foreign soil it is a sin to who ever drop it. The person that drop it will be executed others say if it drops you blow up and burn to death other then that The flag gets dirty and u have to burn it or just wash it in the washing machine at a store
Do not let the flag touch the ground....If you do you have to burn it.
it should be burned. in a nice way, not a creppy pyro way
