Don't get so caught up in words. The girlfriend is "projecting" her own behavior with words. So really, the girlfriend is the possessive one. If she wasn't possessive then she would be cool with you hanging out with your sister. Usually people that are possessive have big trust issues, and that usually ruins the relationship, its just a matter of when.
