I don't know whether the main question is why iron rustsor why does it rust slowly but i will answer both
iron rusts in air because air contains oxygen and water.
and for rusting to occur, you NEED both oxygen and water..
why it rusts slowly because , although air has an abundance of oxygen (~30%) water does not (~1%) and that is why it rusts slowly. because there is lesser water in the air to react with the iron and oxygen.
This metal is iron.
Water droplet lands on the surface of a car with a scratch/dint
It depends on the quality of the nail. If it is painted it Amy take long to rust. In general it may take a month or so for the nail to rust.
rusting of iron . means when you put an iron object left open in moist air .... the moist air come into contact with the iron article and a brown flaky layer of iron oxide is formed on on the object. This is CORROSION of IRON .

Explosure to moist air will form rust on metals.
Iron rusting is a chemical change in which iron reacts with moist air to form fe2o3 commonly known as rust, a brown coloured coating.

Iron reacts with oxygen in air to for rust.
they turn green due to oxidation. in iron it is red and called rust, in copper it is called patina
Yes Rust is a compound because of iron +air
Iron reacting with oxygen produces rust, Fe2O3 (Iron (III) oxide) or FeO2 (Iron (II) oxide) depending on the composition of the iron.
