I don't know whether the main question is why iron rustsor why does it rust slowly but i will answer both

iron rusts in air because air contains oxygen and water.

and for rusting to occur, you NEED both oxygen and water..

why it rusts slowly because , although air has an abundance of oxygen (~30%) water does not (~1%) and that is why it rusts slowly. because there is lesser water in the air to react with the iron and oxygen.

Which compound is formed when Fe is exposed to moist air?

Iron rust (iron oxide) is formed when iron is exposed to moist air due to the process of oxidation.

What is iron rust in moist air an example of?

Iron rust in moist air is an example of a chemical reaction called oxidation. In this process, the iron reacts with the oxygen in the air to form iron oxide (rust) through a series of chemical reactions.

What is a hard silver-white magnetic metal easily rust in moist air?

How Corrosion of iron in presence of moist air?

When iron is exposed to moist air, it can undergo a chemical reaction known as corrosion. The moisture in the air reacts with iron to form iron oxide, also known as rust. This process is accelerated in the presence of salt or pollutants in the air, which act as catalysts for the corrosion of iron. Regular maintenance and protective coatings can help prevent corrosion of iron in moist air environments.

What kind of change of rusting of iron?

Iron rusting is a chemical change in which iron reacts with moist air to form fe2o3 commonly known as rust, a brown coloured coating.

What is corrosion of iron known as?

rusting of iron . means when you put an iron object left open in moist air .... the moist air come into contact with the iron article and a brown flaky layer of iron oxide is formed on on the object. This is CORROSION of IRON .

What kind of change iron to rust?

Iron rusting is a chemical change in which iron reacts with moist air to form fe2o3 commonly known as rust, a brown coloured coating.

What happens to iron when it is exposed to moist air?

Iron will undergo a chemical reaction with the moisture in the air to form iron oxide, commonly known as rust. This process is known as corrosion and weakens the iron, eventually causing structural damage if not addressed. Regular maintenance like painting or coating can help prevent rust formation.
