Broadway is the street that all of the theaters are on. it was originally New York's main street, which made it a great place to open businesses such as theaters

** In reply to the above post: Most Broadway theaters are not actually on Broadway, but located in the Theatre District surrounding Broadway and crossroads between the 40's and 50's streets.
