By the FBI definition of a serial killer, the body count has to be over three, in different places with a cool-off period. While Manson did not commit the murders himself, he was greatly involved and was a conspirator to murder rather than a purpetrator. There were to separate murders that took place with many victims involved, so it is considered a serial murder case.
The Tate-LaBianca murders were carried out by followers of Charles Manson, a cult leader. The Charles Manson gang. it is interesting- as it befuddled the police- only ONE of the Five Manson murders on the Cielo drive site ( unlike the related LaBianca grocery murders- which did involve gunshots) involved a firearm, an unusual nine-shot revolver by Harrington and Richardson. The morbid jokesters referred to Manson"s Full House- Three Jacks ( male victims) and Two Queens ( Sharon Tate and Abigail Folger).
I am going to assume you mean the ranch that Charles Manson and his 'family' lived at before and right after the Tate-LaBianca murders. The ranch was an old movie set called Spahn's Movie Ranch. It was located east of L.A. and I can imagine it was no Garden of Eden. Hot and dry beyond belief, but a good place to hide from the law.

He didn't actually "change" his name. It's just a stage name. Brian Warner came up with the name when he first formed the band, in 1989, which was then called "Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids".
If the Manson you mean is Charles then the answer is 'Lie:The Love & Terror Cult. It was released in March 1970 and this album contained the song 'Cease To Exist' which was recorded by the Beach Boys on one of their albums, but renamed Never Learn Not To Love. In 1970, the Family (Manson's group of chums) released an album named 'The Family Jams' which contained songs written by Charles Manson, but he provided no vocals. There is an additional CD floating around called 'The Wit and Wisdom Of Charles Manson'. That one must be interesting. Mostly held by collectors, it would be hard to find a copy of this one.
