Because Uncle George doesn't act normally, he moves around a lot and walks in a very peculiar way, like a "loping giant". His Uncle doesn't share his great tales of being out at sea at such a young age which is something he should be proud of. Uncle George never looks in one direction for a long time, always changing glances. This makes him seem very stiff and edgy as if he was hiding something or was guilty.
Which, in the end, the truth was revealed. This is the best i can do, so, hope it's good enough.
