There were cameras before Eastman's Brownie Camera (there was a Kodak Camera before the Brownie, but it was really expensive at $25; the Brownie only cost $1), but they were too expensive and too hard to use for most people. Eastman developed the Brownie so everyone could take pictures.
George Eastman is heralded as the father of popular photography. With his inventions of flexible roll film and the Kodak camera of 1888 and $1 Brownie camera of 1900, photography became available to the masses.
There were more advertisements for different businesses, which brought in more consumers. Then the increase in consumers created the need for more employees, and in turn more jobs. There were also more people needed to make and manufacture the camera itself because it was in popular demand from consumers.
