A few reasons but mainly these two:

  • We cannot afford to have a big armed forces.
  • We have trident nuclear missiles in nuclear powered submarines that act as a nuclear deterrant to nations thinking to attack us.

Hope this helps :P

Great Britain is reducing the size of its armed forces due to a combination of budget constraints and a shift in strategic priorities. The government has made the decision to prioritize investment in modern capabilities such as cyber warfare and unmanned systems, leading to a reduction in the number of personnel and older equipment. This allows for a more cost-effective defense posture while still maintaining the ability to address emerging threats.
