k2 is much harder than Everest because of limited routes, steeper ascent, limited camps, harder summit push.
1, The Weather, on Everest the weather follows a set pattern dictated by the arrival of the monsoon. On K2, in northern Pakistan the monsoon barely penetrates and conditions are largely unpredictable. The sudden storms are caused in part because the peak is so much higher than the mountains around it, it juts up into the upper layers of the atmosphere and like a rock in a river can create eddies in the jet stream, with good weather on one side of the mountain, and life-threatening conditions on the other.
2, Technical Difficulty. K2 is a far harder technical climb then Everest
3, High Altitude Porters. As K2 is so remote few, if any high altitude porters are used. Leaving the climbers to do all the work.

The above answers are both correct. K2 is considered by many experienced mountaineers to be a more difficult climb than Everest for several reasons. The weather is a big factor, as described. Also, there are no tourist buses to the base camp of K2, so getting there itself is more difficult. It's at least a 1-week hike carrying all your provisions, from the nearest road. K2 also presents a more varied climb - rock, ice, and snow all present themselves to the climber. The average slope of K2 is also steeper - 45 degrees, as opposed to Everest's 23 degrees.
Everest is a big, huge, tall hunk of rock and snow - but, given the right conditions, even a paraplegic or a blind person can climb it by holding on to the ropes and pulling him- or herself up. This is currently not possible on K2.

Death Valley is hotter than Mount Everest because as you climb higher the altitude makes it colder.
It is harder to breathe on the summit of Mount Everest than at sea level due to the lack of oxygen. The higher you climb upwards the less oxygen there is, you enter the death zone where the thin air is.
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world, so therefore is higher than K2. Mount Everest is 8848 meters tall and K2 is 8611 meters tall. You may not know this but even though Mount Everest is higher K2 is acctually harder to climb.
