Because Guy fawks wanted to blow up the house of parliament with gun powder. He was caught on the 4th of November, and arrested along with the people who helped him, and the next day his friends were hung drawn and quartered and guy fawks was burnt at the stake with fire, so we celebrate this day with fireworks, like gun powder, and some people burn a scarecrow or straw man tied to a long piece of wood in memory of the day. Also, a tradition is that now the owners of the house of parliament now go into the cellar and search for strange men with gun powder...
