Queensland is suitable for solar power because it gets a large number of daily sunshine hours, ranging from an average of 6.4 (May) to 8.9 (September) with an annual average of 7.9 hours per day.
The Federal Government has announced funds to build the largest solar project in the Southern Hemisphere.
Final approval has been given for the Kogan Creek Solar Boost project in southern Queensland, what's believed to be the world's largest solar integration with a coal-fired power station.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard says she's supported this $104 million initiative.
"So the power of this beautiful Queensland sunshine will be used to generate enough electricity for 5,000 homes," she said.
"That will mean that in generating that electricity, some 36,000 tonnes of carbon pollution will be avoided."
Ms Gillard says she hopes it will be one of many projects under the new carbon tax scheme.
The final approval of the project has been welcomed by the mayor of the Western Downs Regional Council, Ray Brown.
Cr Brown says while it cements his region as the energy capital of Queensland, it also means extra employment.
"There's no doubt there's at least 20 full-time jobs with this project alone and quite a great number in construction."
And it's got solar energy experts excited too.
The University of Queensland's Professor Paul Meredith is a member of the Premier's Council for Climate Change.
He says it's an exciting time for the sector.
"I think all of us in the industry think this is a transitional technology, very low risk and very good value for money to be frank and very good bang for your buck in terms of using solar energy to reduce carbon emissions."
Professor Meredith says it could signal a shining future for Australia's use of solar technology.
"We're playing catch up and I don't think anyone would argue with that point, but if we build out these solar flagship projects, then we immediately leapfrog many other countries around the world.
"We'll have some of the largest solar power plants anywhere in the planet right here in Australia."
solar power is formed by generating solar energy from the sun
yes sun is the source for solar power
Solar power can be found wherever the sun can be harnessed into energy. Germany currently uses the most solar power.
solar power always power
Solar power is harnessed through solar panels
depending on how much the solar power costs possibly.
Solar power is extremely suitable for Australia, given its high proportion of sunlight. However, most solar panels currently installed in the country are not made for Australian conditions, and last only around 5-10 years, so some may not feel that solar power is suitable as the cost of hardier panels is very high.
In general solar power: takes a large suface to capture significant power, and requires equipment that is relatively expensive, so the power catpured is expensive. There are occasional exceptions, but none that are suitable for mass production.
Wave power may have some limited future where the oceans are very suitable and other forms of renewable energy are not possible. However, solar power can work better and more cheaply almost everywhere, and wind is often more appropriate when solar is not.
In 2014, the party in power in Queensland is the LNP, which is the Liberal-National Party coalition.

Hey there! Great question about solar energy! So, solar energy comes from the sun. Did you know that the sun sends out a lot of energy in the form of light and heat? We can capture this energy using special panels called solar panels. These panels are usually placed on the roof of a house where they can soak up the sunlight. Now, once these solar panels capture the sunlight, they turn it into electricity through a process called photovoltaics. This electricity can then be used to power things in our homes, like lights, TVs, computers, and more! To utilize solar energy at home, you would first need to install solar panels on your roof. These panels are connected to an inverter, which converts the electricity from the panels into a usable form for your home. The electricity generated by the solar panels can either be used directly by your household appliances or stored in batteries for later use, especially when the sun isn't shining. By using solar energy at home, you can reduce your reliance on traditional electricity sources that produce greenhouse gases. It's a clean and renewable way to power your home while also helping the environment. Isn't it cool that we can use sunlight to power our homes? If you're interested in learning more, you can explore how solar energy works and maybe even consider how you can use it in the future!
The solar power can power your house. Solar power energy can be used to power many things, it just depends on how many solar panels you have. Tioga Energy specializes in solar power. They install and facilitate the solar panels but the customer agrees to buy power from the power generated from the solar panels.www.tiogaenergy.com
