Your question is a little vague - However... RAM is faster than say, a hard-disk because RAM is made of silicon chips holding thousands of tiny electronic switches which are quicker to access. On a hard-disk - the information has to be found first by reading a 'reference track' which locates the information on the disk - then a read-head has to physically move to that part of the disk.

RAM and a Hard Drive are two different components of hardware inside a computer. They serve different purposes. The more RAM you may have, the more your computer may be able to do at once where as a hard drive is soley for storing data. The larger a hard drive the more they can store. As you may be ablte to tell, it is quite hard to compare speed with these two, but RAM would be faster as it has no moving parts where as a hard drivew has a circular disk that spins. RAM. By a long shot.

If a Hard Disk Drive takes 0.013 seconds to read a piece of Which_is_faster_RAM_or_Hard_Disk_Drive, the same piece of data could be read from RAM in 0.000 000 01 seconds.

Is ram faster than virtual memory?

Virtual memory is memory taken from your HDD and converted into ram. Ram is the actual memory chips installed in the memory modules on your motherboard that are used for running processes, programs(etc.)

What is the small amount of ram that is much faster than the rest of ram?

Will a computer function without ram?

No, a computer uses RAM (Random Axcess Memory) to function. RAM also determines the speed of you're computer; the more RAM the faster he computer.

Why a PC needs to use ram?

Because it's the extra memory that helps the system go faster. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It's the portion of the computer memory that is called upon to run whatever program you are using at the time. The more RAM a computer has, the faster and better it can run a program.

What is faster sram or dram?

SRAM is faster than DRAM. Because Static RAM requires anywhere from 4 to 6 transistors and some wiring. The memory never has to be refreshed. It's therefore faster than dynamic RAM. Because it has more parts, though it takes up more space on a memory chip, which gives the chip less memory and makes it more expensive.
