- Iago's plan is to make Cassio drunk and get him into a brawl that will ruin Cassio's reputation and cause him to lose his position. He urges Roderigo to provoke Cassio "to put our Cassio in some action/ that may offend the isle." As usual,Roderigo is duped by Iago's manipulative words and agrees to do this, even though all he ends up with is a sound beating from Cassio. Iago, however, succeeds in getting Cassio dismissed from his lieutenancy to Othello, which plays in toIago's master plan to ruin Othello.

∙ 14y agoRoderigo is mad at Iago because he found out that all his gifts he was sending to Desdemona through Iago weren't getting to her. he found out that Iago was keeping the gifts and not been doing what he said he was doing. Roderigo was also the first person in the entire play to realize that Iago wasn't keeping to his word

∙ 12y agoIago uses Roderigo to anger Cassio so that Cassio will fight with him. This breach of discipline will result in Cassio getting dismissed. This has the results of getting Iago a promotion and giving Desdemona a reason to plead on Cassio's behalf which Iago will turn into evidence of her infidelity.

∙ 9y agoSo one of them would kill the other. Iago wanted both of them dead, and so planned that when one killed the other, Iago would take out the Survivor. He finished off Roderigo, but Cassio survived.
