Snow White symbolizes the purity of the character. This denotes that she was a virgin and untouched by a male and was without blame. There is a theory that Fairy Tales were written as a 'hidden' political opposition to the leaders/rulers of the time because it was not safe to critize the King or other rulers of that day. In fact, one could lose his head and many did.
