Well put in somewhat normal terms, the main reason that Synthetic oil is better than conventional comes down to the molecular build of it. Synthetic oil has lots of little molecules built up to make big molecules, where as conventional only has big ones. So when the oil gets really hot and wears down, the conventional breaks down faster due to the solid large molecules. Synthetics big molecules just break down into smaller ones, therefore extending the performance/protection of it.

Is motor oil heavier than gasoline?

Yes, motor oil is generally heavier than gasoline. Motor oil has a higher viscosity and density compared to gasoline, which allows it to provide better lubrication for engine components. While gasoline is designed to be lighter and more volatile for combustion, motor oil is formulated to withstand high temperatures and pressures within an engine.

Which is more dense motor oil or gasoline?

Is motor oil a light oil?

Motor oil is generally classified as a heavy oil, as it is designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures in an engine. It has a higher viscosity compared to light oils, which means it is thicker and provides better lubrication and protection for engine components. Light oils, such as those used for cooking or in some industrial applications, have lower viscosity and flow more easily at room temperature. Therefore, motor oil is not considered a light oil.
