When a movie or show is refered to as "Cult", it means there is a loyal following of people who go to see it over and over again. In the case of Chess, the album came out first, and many of us fell in love with it. We waited patiently to see if they would stage it as a show, and secretly wondered how it could be done, because even though it is a powerful and emotion filled show, very little is happening physically, so what would you do on stage?

Well, they put together a Broadway show, which bombed. You'd think that would be the end of it, and that it would fade away like most Broadway bombs, but the cult who loved the album kept pushing for a staging of Chess.

Just lately, they came up with the idea of doing chess as a concert, which seems to be more its niche, and the Chess lovers are going to see it, because it is their passion.

Who knows what's next, the video of the concert was just on PBS. Maybe they'll try for a movie. I think a series of videos strung together, sort of like "The WALL" might work, and the same people who loved the record will be there to see it, because they are the cult.
