The platypus's appearance is also unusual - it has a bill which some consider to resemble that of a duck (but is, in fact, very different), a sleek and streamlined otter-like body, a short, thick tail which some believe is like that of a beaver (but which, again, is very different), the male has a venomous spur, and its feet are webbed. It uses its sensitive bill which is equipped with electroreceptors to find food underwater.

People are continually perplexed by what they think is a cross between a duck and a beaver, yet which is not even remotely related to either species. Platypuses are small, sleek and paradoxical in appearance.
