∙ 8y agoStainless steel is used because of its resistance. Heat conduction is greatly reduced through other means - by the vacuum between two layers, and by mirrors.

∙ 8y agoIt will withstand physical impact. Silvered glass is a better reflector of heat, but when you drop a glass lined Thermos, it shatters. Stainless does not.
