Timer relays are used in control circuitry. There are two main types, an (off delay) and an (on delay).

If you want one device to turn off before the timer controlled device then you would use an off delay timer.

If you want one device to turn on before the timer controlled device then you would use an on delay timer.

When the timer is energized this starts the timer circuit in the relay to time out.
