Because the fire or heating device heats the air in the top section ( the actual balloon ) and hot air rises... so the hot air trapped in the balloon makes the balloon rise :)
A hot air balloon pilot is called an aeronaut.
Hot air makes the balloon go higher. That's why it's called a hot air balloon
A hot air balloon is called an hot air balloon because, the inside is heated up to make it less dense, allowing it to rise. Meaning, your heating up the air inside the balloon, hence, the name: Hot air balloon.
An envelope is the bag in which the hot air is trapped ito to give the balloon lift.
The entire balloon is called the Envelope and makes up the top part of the hot air balloon. The deflation Port is located at the very top of the envelope and allow the operator to release the hot air in the balloon to decrease the balloon's buoyancy and make it sink.

The force that lifts a hot air balloon is called buoyancy.

No Gas Just hot air which is why it is called a hot air balloon. If you were wondering hot air is lighter than cold air which makes it rise so when it is trapped inside the balloon the whole thing will rise.

Balloonier
On the 19th September 1783 Pilatre De Rozier, a scientist, launched the first hot air balloon called 'Aerostat Reveillon'
A hot air balloon flies because it is filled with hot air. Hot air rises and causes the balloon to lift from the ground.
A gondola.
