An incandescent lamp is not cool to the touch unless it is an extremely low wattage. Heat given off by incandescent lamps is one of the drawbacks of the lamp. Total overall efficiency is reduced by the wasted heat.

What kind of light bulb gives off the most heat?

Incandescent bulbs produce the most heat for a given amount of light; fluorescent lights produce much less heat, and LED produces the least.

Do fluorescent lights produce heat?

Yes. They're cool compared to incandescent bulbs of the same light output, but they do produce some heat.

Why is fluorescent lighting better for an aquarium than incandescent lighting?

An aquarium is sensitive to temperature changes. Incandescent lighting gives off much more heat than fluorescent lighting.

What direction of heat flow when a warm object and a cool object touch?

The heat will transfer to the cooler object.

What device uses a resistor to transform electrical energy into light and heat?

Among others, the filament of an incandescent light bulb is a resistor- which gives off heat and light.

Is a LED light incandescent?

No, incandescent lights give off heat. LED do not.

Do incandescent and fluorescent bulbs produce the same amount of heat?

No, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs do not produce the same amount of heat.

What is the difference between endothermic and exothermic change?

Endothermic reactions absorb heat from the reactants, i.e , the vessel or beaker in which the reactions have happened will be cool to touch........ Whereas in exothermic reactions, Heat will be given out and the vessel will be hot to touch..........

How many watt does a 60 watt light bulb use if turn it on and off?

If it is an incandescent light bulb (Gives off heat too hot to touch) it consumes 60 Watts when on and 0 watts when Off. When on it draws about 1/2 amp at 120 VAC.

What is the direction of heat flow when a warm object and cool object touch?

from warm to cool, warmth is energy, coolness is the absence of energy.

What is a chemical reaction that's absorbs energy called?

An Endothermic reaction. If you touch the reaction vessel it will feel cool/cold, as it is taking in heat energy. By contract an Exothermic reaction is one that gives out heat. If you touch the reaction vessel it will feel warm/hot as it is liberating heat energy.

What is the difference between a cool touch heater and a mica panel radiator heater?

Cool touch heaters are made of ceramic and aree very safe, while mica radiators are hot to the touch but produce much more heat.
